About DividendMapper

I'm Glenn, the founder of DividendMapper.

I'm a regular UK-based guy with a normal day job and an average salary. I own a home with a mortgage, and I have a wife and a new baby.

How I got into investing

I've dabbled with investing since the financial crisis, buying while markets were near their lows and making a few pounds along the way. My first share deal was through Halifax Share Dealing in 2009. I think it cost £12.95 a trade back then.

When Covid struck I was saving for a house deposit. I was working in retail at the time, so I worked right through it. I put my entire deposit into the market as it fell, then sold everything on the way back up (probably too quickly). I got lucky: the £9,000 became £18,000, and we bought a house instead of a flat.

Why I built this

For the last couple of years I've been building a Stocks and Shares ISA, aiming for roughly 20% of the portfolio in income holdings. About a year ago I wanted to see exactly when dividends were going to land in my account, without poking around inside my broker app every few days. I spent an afternoon looking at what was out there, and my first thought was how expensive dividend tracking seemed.

I signed up to Sharesight hoping it would cover research and a dividend calendar in one place. It didn't do either the way I wanted, and I came away underwhelmed.

DividendMapper started there.

Where it is now

We're still building it: improving things, fixing data issues, adding features (and customers!). I've enjoyed every minute of it.
